Bellamy Brothers ‘Hot’ New Video Ruffles Some Feathers
Country music legends the Bellamy Brothers debuted their hot new video, ‘Jalapenos,’ last month, and it has already become an internet sensation, racking up more than a half-million hits just through word-of-mouth. The brothers’ no-holds-barred video takes humorous pot shots at politicians, celebrities and even that little pick-me-up pill, Viagra. [Watch the video after the jump.]
Howard and David Bellamy are no strangers to hit songs, having released over 50 albums in the last 35 years and charting 20 No. 1 singles, including their signature crossover smash, ‘Let Your Love Flow.’ So it’s no wonder their current song exploded on the Internet after the video was released in early June.
One small problem: radio (so far) isn’t touching it. ‘Jalapenos’ is virtually getting no airplay on country stations. “It’s mostly banned,” David laments to The Boot. “There are a couple stations here and there that are playing it, but I don’t know that anybody has added it in like any kind of rotation. For the most part, it’s banned from radio.
“What’s really funny about this song,” he continues, “I was talking to one of our promotion guys, and I said, ‘What do they want us to do, bleep out the word ass?’ He goes, ‘No that doesn’t bother them; it’s just the word erect that bothers them.’ I said, ‘Have you seen these ads on television?! It’s like every three minutes. That’s what we’re making fun of. Every few minutes they’re on TV … people in bathtubs!’ We had one lady from a radio station that actually emailed our office. Our assistant showed me the email, and she said, ‘I really love this song. I’m just waiting for permission from my boss to see if I can play it.’ [laughs]”
‘Jalapenos’ also takes jabs at a few politicians and sports figures with infamously wandering eyes.
“I wrote this song [because] I got sick of all politicians and pretty much all media in terms of just social and political [mores],” David laughs. “I don’t even know what I consider myself anymore. I think the political climate is so toxic … among everyone, not just one or the other party. I had been messing around with that jalapeno idea because I had heard that line, so I thought that would be a funny song. We haven’t done a crazy, funny song in a while. I thought it was time, and this was timely. We’re just bombarded with so much of this stuff, then the Tiger Woods story was breaking and the John Edwards story was breaking. I guess I was watching too much news! I was toying around with the jalapenos idea, and I kind of applied it to all the social and political mess that goes on in the world. I just tried to poke fun at it. I tried to offend as many people as I could think of. [laughs] I think everybody’s being way too uptight about all this stuff.”
The video was actually a last minute thought. The Bellamys were stuck in Ft. Worth, Texas for a couple of days, so it just seemed like a good idea to shoot a video, except David thought it would be hard to get Tiger Woods and Sarah Palin lookalikes. “One of my buddies told us we could get some masks,” says David. A quick call to his buddy who owned a cantina provided the venue.
“We shot the whole thing in one afternoon,” David explains. “Everybody was having a real good time. So we went on out west and did some dates, and my buddy edited it. We called him. He said, ‘What do you think?’ I said, ‘Let’s go ahead and release it. Man, it was like overnight people started hitting it like crazy. It really surprised us. We hadn’t even thought about doing a video in the beginning.”

The Bellamy Brothers released an awesome iOS7 native app powered by VidPlat on to iTunes last week. We gave it a test drive to see what the Platinum duo has been working on in the mobile media end of the spectrum. And, what we discovered was an awesome app, which looks beautiful on iPhone and iPad, while offering cutting edge features.
For example, we were able to stalk their tour dates, purchase tickets to select events, watch their videos, review printed content and we even recorded a video shout out to the bros from the app and sent it in to them…
The second day we had the app downloaded we received a push message on our devices from the Bros thanking everyone for being one of the first to download their app and promising more content to follow. However, we may not have to wait long because we noticed they have streaming live on the app so at any time the Bellamy Bros could pop on and give us a glimpse into what’s going on either on the ranch or on their worldwide tour.

Country Fest in Port Charlotte Hosts one of the South’s largest one day festivals!
With Spring in full bloom and the weather warming up, the Spring and Summer music festivals are starting to crank up and prepare for another season of great Country music. And, one that sticks out is Country Fest 2014 in Port Charlotte, FL. Presented by Hooters and Kix Country 92.9, which will be held at the Port Charlotte Fairgrounds drawing over 15,000 attendees for the single day event.
This year’s line up is sure to be a blast with headlining act Country music legend Neal McCoy, known for his hits “The Shake”, “Billy’s Got His Beer Googles On” and “No Doubt About It” joined by rising star Nashville recording artists the Shane Wooten Band performing their hits “Shovel’n Sunshine” and “Runnin’ with a Redneck Crowd” ft the Bellamy Brothers. And, many other bands are set to perform throughout the day with awesome food vendors and plenty to do for the whole family.

Garth Brooks Announces 2014 World Tour
Garth Brooks announced to anchor Robin Roberts on Good Morning America on Monday Dec 9th when he dropped his 2014 world tour announcement.
Brooks originally scheduled on the show to promote his new box set, “Blame It All on My Roots, which is being sold through retail giant Walmart debuted at No. 1 and appears to still be selling strong through Christmas. When questioned by Robin Roberts regarding the possibility Garth told longtime interviewer that “Between you and me, I think we’ll make an announcement very soon.”
“If you want to, you can make it right now,” she sat stunned in silence for a second, Brooks then stated “Well, you know what — since it’s you, and since we’ve had a history forever, let’s announce it. We’re going on a world tour in 2014.”
The studio audience erupted with applause and excitement, while Roberts hugged Brooks, who stated, “I can’t think of a better way — I can’t believe I just did that, but you are a doll.”
Garth reportedly slowed down his world tours when his children were born so that he could be involved in their lives. However, Garth stated that his youngest child is set to graduate high school this year so the time is right. “It sure feels good to get to throw your hat back in the ring,” he noted.

Toby Keith Opens Cost Free Living for Children Fighting Cancer
Toby Keith’s Foundation proudly opened the doors last week to a cost free living facility for children battling cancer. The OK Kids Korral is said to look like the Ritz Carlton meets Disney World and will provide a home for pediatric cancer patients and their families, while they are receiving treatment at The Children’s Hospital at OU Medical Center, OU Cancer Institute and other nearby facilities according the facilities website.
The site also adds:
• According to recent statistics from OU Cancer Institute,
over 1,000 Oklahoma children have been diagnosed with
cancer since 2005.
• Advances in cancer treatments have resulted in a
promising survival rate increase from about 10% in the
1950s to 77% overall.
One thing is for sure that the OK Kids Korral will bring a warmth and stability to the children and their families, while the children under go treatments for their illnesses. The facility boast 16 suites each sleeping up to 5, indoor / outdoor playrooms, gourmet kitchen and more. Toby’s foundation has been working since 2006 to help children battling cancer and spearheaded the efforts to make OK Kids Korral a reality.

Back off Bitches! Miranda Lambert’s All Natural!

Recently Miranda Lambert has been seen looking lean and tight in front of the camera. While most applauded her personal transformation, the tabloids attacked Miranda stating that Miranda most have had some procedure to pull this off. Miranda stated “Though I NEVER care what the tabloids have to say about me… I wanted to address this certain story they are running this week and set the record straight. I DID NOT have surgery to lose weight.”
Lambert added:
“That is ridiculous. I lost my weight the healthy and good old fashioned way. Watching what I eat and working out with my trainer Bill Crutchfield.”
Shelton was clearly unimpressed with the tabloids’ treatment of his wife. He tweeted, “How dare these tabloids. Beauty comes in all sizes.”
Texas-born Lambert is no stranger to tabloid rumors. She is a multi-CMA winner, and she is married to fellow country superstar Blake Shelton. She and her celebrity husband handle much of the rumors printed about them with casual indifference and a sense of humor that speaks to their character.
Miranda Lambert credits her weight loss to healthier eating, daily exercise, and the support of her 37-year-old sweetheart, who told her, “I have never had a problem with any way you look at any point–you are beautiful to me at any size and every size.” Miranda responded to her husband’s compliments by saying, “But he has been proud of my hard work on this. He brags on me. That makes me feel great.”
The skinnier starlet said she cuts meals in half, and stays away from fast food and even Cheetos, but there was one thing she won’t give up altogether:
“I didn’t give up drinking. I refused. You have to drink to put up with my husband! Just kidding! But I just felt that I should get a little more healthy and I have a record coming out in the spring and it’s a very important album to me – it’s my fifth album – and I have this spot, I found a great spot in country music and I want to keep it.”
Miranda Lambert has also admitted that part of the reason she seems to have made such a dramatic shift is her short stature, “I’m only 5’4? so when I gain, I gain everywhere and when I lose, I lose everywhere.” She also admits she does not know how many pounds she has lost, just how her “skinny jeans” fit.

With the holidays kicking into gear, the American Country Music Chart sat down with some of Country music’s stars to find out their favorite recipes that will be served up around the dinner table this holiday season.

The following is a list of the top favorites and recipes from some of Country’s Music favorite stars.
Shane Wooten’s Pecan Pie
This southern treat is awesome with a dollop of Vanilla Ice Cream served over a warm slice of goodness. Also, for a variation of this classic add a layer of chocolate chips to the mix before you apply the pecans. And, don’t let me catch you hanging around it!

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons white sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, chilled
- 4 tablespoons ice water
- 3 eggs, beaten
- 3/4 cup light corn syrup
- 2 tablespoons dark corn syrup
- 3/4 cup light brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 pinch salt
- 1/2 cup pecans, finely crushed
- 1 cup pecans, quartered
- 1 cup pecan halves
- 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips (Optional)
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- To Make Crust: In a medium bowl, combine flour, salt and white sugar. Cut butter into flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually sprinkle the water over the dry mixture, stirring until dough comes together enough to form a ball.
- On a floured surface flatten dough ball with rolling pin. Roll out into a circle that is one inch larger than pie dish. Place pie shell into dish and refrigerate until pie filling is complete.
- To Make Pie Filling: In a medium bowl, mix together eggs, light and dark corn syrups, brown sugar, butter, salt and finely crushed pecans. Spread quartered pecans over bottom of refrigerated pie crust. Pour syrup mixture over top of pecans, then arrange pecan halves on top of pie.
- Bake in a preheated 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) oven for one hour or until firm; let cool for one hour before serving.
Bellamy Brothers’ Bacon Mashed Potatoes
This has been a close kept family secret for over 100 years down on the family farm at the Bellamy Brothers’ Ranch and sure to hit the spot as a great side dish!
Ingredients
- 1 pound new or baby potatoes, scrubbed and cut into 1-inch chunks
- 2 slices bacon
- 1/3 cup low-fat milk or buttermilk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
- 1/3 cup reduced-fat sour cream
- 2 scallions, sliced
Directions
- Place potatoes in a large saucepan and cover with 2 inches of water. Bring to a simmer over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to medium and cook, partially covered, until tender, 10 to 12 minutes. Drain and transfer to a large bowl.
- Meanwhile, cook bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crisp. Drain on a paper towel. Crumble when cool enough to handle.
- Mash the potatoes, milk (or buttermilk), salt and pepper with a potato masher until the liquid is incorporated but some chunks of potato still remain. Fold in sour cream, scallions and the crumbled bacon.
Montgomery Gentry’s Eddie K with Sweet Bacon Tater Casserole
When Eddie sits down with the family this is a personal favorite served up warm and gooey. You want find this on the Tour Bus!
Ingredients
- 5 cups of Mashed Sweet Potatoes
- 1/2 cup of Brown Sugar
- 1/2 cup Milk
- 1/2 Cup of butter
- Dash of Salt
- 1 cup of miniature marshmallows
Topping ingredients:
- 1/2 Cup of Chopped cooked Bacon
- 1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
- 1/2 Chopped Pecans
Direction:
- Mix all of the ingredients together
- Place them in a casserole dish
- Prepare topping from the topping ingredients
- Bake on 350 for 35 minutes.
Shane Wooten Band’s Deep Fried Turkey
This is an awesome way to do a turkey; however Shane cautions to fry it far from the house because his Father-in-Law burnt down the house one year trying this out.
Ingredients
- 25 bay leaves, crushed
- 3 1/2 teaspoons dried thyme
- 3 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano
- 1 1/2 teaspoons freshly ground pepper
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 3 tablespoons Creole seasoning
Directions
- In a small bowl, mix together the bay leaves, thyme, oregano, pepper, garlic powder and Creole seasoning. Rub onto a turkey and refrigerate for 24 hours before frying according to your favorite recipe.
South of Georgia’s TC Ridge with Cheesy Cheese Cake
T.C. said if you snooze you lose at his house, when this desert is set out for eating
Ingredients
- 1 Small Box of Lemon Jell-O
- 1 Cup of Boiling Water
- 1 Large package of Philly cream cheese (Block)
- 1 Can of Milnot whipped firm or 24 oz can of Whipping Cream
- 1 Cup of Sugar
- 1 Cup of Graham cracker crumbs
- 1 ¼ stick of Butter
Direction
- Melt butter in microwave for 1 minute
- Mix the butter together with the cup of Graham cracker crumbs
- Create a crust by pressing out the mixture into your dish 9 x 13
- Mix the Lemon Jell-O, boiling water, and Philly cream cheese together set aside
- Mix 1 cup of sugar with the whipping cream
- Mix whipping cream mixture together with the Jello-O mixture
- Pour into pan over crust
- Place in the fridge and let stand until solidified
John Arthur Martinez and Wife Yvonna Martinez’s Shiner Bock Carne Guisada
Ingredients
- 4 lb of thin Sliced Sirloin
- 4 tablespoons of Olive Oil
- 1 tablespoon of Cumin
- 5 cloves of Garlic Chopped
- 1 medium Onion, diced (about 1 cup)
- 1 can diced Tomatoes or 3 fresh tomatoes, diced
- 1 bottle of Shiner Bock Beer
- 2 cups of water
Directions
- Lightly salt and pepper slices of sirloin.
- Brown sirloin in some olive oil.
- Add cumin, chopped garlic, onions, one can of diced tomatoes.
- Add one bottle of Shiner Bock beer.
- Cover and simmer for 90 minutes.
- Serve with beans, rice, guacamole and tortillas
Shane Wooten Band’s Terry Duane Miller with Double Layer Pumpkin Cheesecake

Ready In:4 Hrs 10 Min
Ingredients
- 2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 pinch ground cloves
- 1 pinch ground nutmeg
- 1 (9 inch) prepared graham cracker crust
- 1/2 cup frozen whipped topping, thawed
Directions
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
In a large bowl, combine cream cheese, sugar and vanilla. Beat until smooth. Blend in eggs one at a time. Remove 1 cup of batter and spread into bottom of crust; set aside.
Add pumpkin, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg to the remaining batter and stir gently until well blended. Carefully spread over the batter in the crust.
Bake in preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until center is almost set. Allow to cool, then refrigerate for 3 hours or overnight. Cover with whipped topping before serving.
Shane Wooten Band‘s Nic Ward with Bubble Bread
This easy Thanksgiving dinner side requires lots of time, but it’s so delicious you’ll always be invited back. – NW
- Prep Time: 5 Min, 4 hours
- Cook Time: 35 Min
- Total Time: 5 hours
Ingredients
- 1 Package of Frozen Roll Dough (or cut dough into 2 tablespoon balls)
- ½ Stick of Butter
- 1 Teaspoon of Minced Garlic
- 1 Teaspoon of Your Favorite Blend of Spices
- ¼ Teaspoon of Salt
Directions
Melt butter in a coffee cup. Combine with garlic and spices. Add salt until it tastes like something you would sop bread with. Using tongs, dip frozen roll dough in melted butter and place inside a 9” loaf baking pan. Arrange about 14 pieces inside the pan.
Cover and let it rise in a warm place until it nears the top of the pan. Thawed dough should rise in about 45 minutes. Frozen dough can sit overnight. Place pan in a preheated oven at 350*F until golden brown, about 35 minutes.
Ingredients
- 6 Quarts of Air popped Popcorn (any brand)
- 1 cup butter
- 2 cups brown sugar (packed)
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon (just as good if you decide to leave this out)

- Melt butter, stir in brown sugar, corn syrup and salt.
- Bring to a boil stirring constantly.
- Then boil without stirring for five minutes.
- Remove from heat, stir in soda and vanilla (this is the fun part–watch the carmel form)
- 1/2 teaspoon soda
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- Stir well – counting a blessing with each stir – and then–
- CRANK UP American Country Music Chart website
- Gradually pour over the popcorn— mixing well.
- Bake 250 degrees for one hour, stirring every 15 minutes. (I have baked it with less time and it is fine)
Scott Carey’s Grizilled Taters
Ingredients
- 8 (approx.) red or new potatoes (serves two)
- Garlic powder
- Minced onion1/2 stick of butter
- Salt
- Pepper
- Parsley
Directions
- Cut potatoes in half
- Boil in water with garlic (powder, minced or fresh) 9 minutes. ?
- Drain potatoes. ?
- Use aluminum foil to create a bowl for the taters.
- Put the boiled taters in aluminum foil bowl.
- Add 1/2 stick of butter. Sprinkle with garlic powder, minced onion, dash of salt and pepper
- Add aluminum foil to cover bowl and fold the edges to seal the bowl *Do not put holes in it!
- Throw on grill for 6 minutes
- Flip over and grill another 6-8 minutes
- Grill until the edges are nicely charred
- Remove from grill and add parsley
Serve with a dollop of sour cream, and enjoy. Be prepared, your guests will insist on seconds!
Marty Stuart’s TV Banjo Player Leroy Troy‘s Ritz Cracker Delight
Ingredients
- Ritz crackers
- Creamy peanut butter
- Almond bark chocolate 2 squares
- Chocolate chips. 1 bag
- Paraffin. 1 tablespoon
Directions
- Smear a tablespoon of peanut butter on the Backside of 2 ritz crackers and then place together making a sandwich.
- Melt the following together over a double boiler.
- Almond bark chocolate 2 squares
- Chocolate chips. 1 bag
- Paraffin. 1 tablespoon
- Then dip crackers in chocolate mixer.
- Place on wax paper to cool. Helps to put in refrigerator for rapid cooling

Wayne Mills Band – Front Man Killed in Nashville Bar Shooting
Singer Wayne Mills, whose “outlaw country” songs center on honky-tonk life, died in a Nashville bar shooting Saturday, police said. Chris Ferrell, owner of Nashville’s Pit and Barrel bar, told police he shot Mills, 44, in self-defense, according to a Nashville police statement.
“Wayne Mills by definition is one that is a stiff-necked, country troubadour with an affinity for honky-tonks and possessing a style of rustic simplicity,” his official website said. He’s an “average country boy steeped in the Southern vernacular of God, guns and football,” his official biography reads.
It is stated that the popular makeover show Bar Rescue had recently made over the Nashville Pit and Barrel bar, which Wayne Mills was shot and killed in and the producers rescheduled the show until further notice due to this unfortunate event.
Willie Nelson Band’s Bus Crashes in Texas with 3 Injured
Legendary Country singer Willie Nelson’s band were involved in an accident early Sat morning when their tour bus struck a highway pillar on an overpass due to heavy rains and wind, which resulted in the drummer breaking his hip and two other band members suffering minor injuries. The accident occurred in East Texas early Saturday morning, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. The accident forced Nelson to suspend tour dates through the end of the month, according to the band’s website.
The bus, carrying the driver and five band members, crashed on Interstate 30 near Sulphur Springs, 80 miles northeast of Dallas, about 3:30 a.m., Trooper Sylvia Jennings said. “The driver stated that he had been driving through heavy, heavy rains and high winds and was having a difficult time driving,” Jennings said. “I guess at some point he lost control, went off the road and hit one of the columns of one of the overpasses.” Nelson’s drummer, Paul English, broke his hip, and two bandmates – English’s brother, Billy, and Thomas Ray Hawkins – had bumps and bruises, Jennings said.
They were taken to Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. “Willie Nelson’s band bus (not Willie’s bus) was in an accident overnight on icy I-30,” said Nelson’s website. “3 members of the family were hospitalized. Additional information will be released as we get it.” The band had been scheduled to play the Horseshoe Tunica Casino in Tunica, Mississippi, on Saturday night. We will be saying a prayer for the boys fast recovery and look forward to seeing the band back out on the road.
Willie was noted to not be on the bus at the time of the accident nor does it appear that his long time coach the Honey Suckle Rose was the bus involved the accident.
ACMC Features First Alt Country Hick Hop Chart!
When listening to today’s country radio, one hears a format made up of classic country mixed with today’s Top 40 new country. While new country is pushing the rock genre envelope, there is a growing cast of characters in the country scene that is taking country rock to a whole new level.
These sub-genres of country music that are starting to impact the landscape are known as alt country and hick hop. While these sub-genres lack mainstream radio play, they are getting as many youtube views as the leading Top 40 country artists.
Here at the american country music chart we like to keep our finger on country music and the emerging sub-genres in the United States and abroad. We were first alerted to these country sub-genres growing popularity, while speaking with Mike Spangler a promoter of the LimeRock Music Festival. Mike stated he was putting together the first alt country and hick hop music festival of its kind in North Central Florida’s town of Ocala, FL featuring over 30 artist over 2 days starting Dec 6th.
In addition, shock jock Bubba the Love Sponge has been heard sampling alt country and hick hop songs on his nationally syndicated radio program. And, Bubba the Love Sponge has been interviewing some of the artist from time to time, such as Colt Ford and Bubba Sparxxx showing his support for this new brand of country music. And, Bubba owns Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, FL, which will be hosting the upcoming LimeRock festival.
We caught up with Shane Wooten, which stated “I think its awesome to be a part of this as a musician. Growing up on Charlie Daniels right along side Ice Tea and Gun’s N Roses, I can see how we have gotten to where we are today. An All-American, Back-Woods, Backyard Party LimeRock Country Rock Music Festival Announces Line Up
Southern Alt-Country, Hick-Hop Weekend with Bubba the Love Sponge® Clem in Ocala Florida
Ocala, FLORIDA—November 7, 2013— DMD Event Group announced their Limerock Country Rock Music Festival (http://limerockmusicfestival.com) lineup today. The event will be held at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, Florida and is a weekend long camp out, concert and backyard party on December 6th and 7th, 2013. The event is an all-ages show for those who like Alt-Country cross over featuring big trucks, big attitude and are not afraid to let loose and party.
The track is surrounded by 100 acres of grassland and is central to four major cities Gainesville, Jacksonville, Tampa & Orlando and several Universities. The event seeks to promote Country music in all its newly emerging forms (hick-hop, alt-country, country-house, pop-country, Cowpunk), by throwing an “All American, Back Woods, Backyard Party,” featuring two stages, late night after hours DJ sets, overnight RV & Auto camping.
Friday, Dec. 6th will feature on the main stage: Alt-Hop / “Hick hop” artist: The Lacs. Concurrently on the side stage there will be a collection of “rising stars” bands featuring Ocala’s own, Shane Wooten Band. DeeJay Silver will be spinning Alt-Country “mash-up” at the after-hours party from midnight-2:00 AM. Saturday, Dec. 7th will feature two full stages from noon-2:00am followed by a second late night party hosted by DeeJay Silver.
The line-up of artist’s includes amazing musicians like: Bubba Sparxxx, Coolio, The LACS, JJ Lawhorn, Ash Bowers, Bottleneck, Clare Dunn, Gwen Sebastian, Matt Stillwell, McKenzies Mill, Moonshine Bandits, Old Southern Moonshine Revival, Outshyne, Ross Copley, Tobacco Road Band and Walker McGuire. Many of these bands are stars of a budding musical genre known as “hick-hop,” singing songs that fuse hip-hop with country music, the bands celebrate the popular rural pastimes like hunting and fishing and themes of driving trucks, lawn mowers, golf carts—all through the mud. The music, often shunned by country-music traditionalists because of its heavy drum and bass, doesn’t get much airplay on mainstream radio stations however, it has large record sales and increasing popularity. The language is fun, relatively family-friendly and the themes lighthearted and violence-free. The all-ages mud-park shows, which often feature dancers that shimmy around chain-link-fence poles cemented onto truck beds, have been known to draw upward of 100,000 fans.

One of the genre’s top artists, featured at LimeRock — the LACS have albums among the top 75 on Billboard’s country music chart this week. Average Joe’s Entertainment, a Nashville, Tenn.-based independent record label that specializes in the emerging genre, has sold nearly 200,000 “Mud Digger” compilation albums featuring its various artists.
